Preparations are in full swing for Dussehra festivities in the industrial district Jharsuguda.
Business activity is already seeing a surge as sales of various festive items have been increasing. Markets which had a jaded look since months of passive economic sentiment are now witnessing hustle and bustle during the nine-day long Navratri.
“Sales of products demanded in the season are looking very good, and I have done more business this year than the last year,” said Manoj Behera, an entrepreneur.
Another shopkeeper, Ravi Mishra, said, “Residents of Jharsuguda, Brajrajnagar and even Belpahar have been thronging shopping zones and local markets to get the items. The festival of Navratri is being celebrated all over the district with prayers, colours, Dandiya dance and Satvik food.”
The demand for crackers has also increased as compared to the previous season, shop owners said.
