--Attempt fails obviously: Driven by superstition, the family members of a deceased boy offered puja to appease  the presiding deity of their village to bring back life in the dead child.

The video of the worshipping went viral on social media. The  incident occurred in Jharpimpal village under Jaleswar police limits of the district.

According to reports , 14-year-old Jiban Dandpat  went to take a bath in a pond near his house on Friday but he did not return home. The family members  after making frantic searches for him traced his body floating in the pond.

Although the villagers  after rescuing the child  initially rushed him  to the Baliapal CHC yet the doctor declared him dead. The locals  blocked the road for some time demanding compensation after  they learnt that the pond was  fenced and electrified to prevent  fish theft causing the death of the minor.

However, after learning there is a posdibility to bring back life of their dead son provided they offered a puja to the village deity, they arranged the puja. But despite conducting the rituals, they failed to restore life in the child.

Subsequently, the family members took him to Jaleswar GK Bhatt Hospital.
