Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced to introduce the Pucca Ghar Yojana for construction workers with support of the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board from this December.
Under this scheme, all construction workers in the age between 18 and 60 years, who are registered with the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare, would get Government assistances for construction of houses on their own lands. Every beneficiary would be given assistances of Rs 1 lakh and each family, comprising husband, wife and unmarried children, would be taken as a unit for availing the benefit.
As per prevailing rules, the District level Monitoring Committee on labour would send a final beneficiary list and send it to the Welfare Board. On recommendation of the board, the Government would decide on a final plan.
This Pucca Ghan Yojana would be implemented through the Panchayati Raj Department. Sanctioned houses would be constructed within one year of issuance of work order.
