A public hearing meeting was held on Friday for the expansion of production capacity from the existing 2.2 million TPA to 3.5 million TPA of Roida-2 iron mines of the Khatau Narbheram and Co situated at Tanto village under Barbil tehsil here.
At the outset, Pollution Control Board regional officer Pushkar Behera told about the objectives of the meeting. ADM Keonjhar Dr Bhaktabandhu Pradhan chaired.
Out of total 70 participants, though a majority supported the expansion project but they had also demanded measures on employment, environment, health and education fronts. Chief General Manager Ramesh Rath on behalf the company assured peripheral development, including a plantation drive.
