A public hearing for expansion of the Paradeep Phosphates ltd (PPl) scheduled to be held on Wednesday was canceled as land losers opposed it.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests had asked the PPl to conduct a public hearing in the expansion site and submit a report to get requisite clearance. Accordingly, the PPl had called for a public hearing at the PPT Officers’ Club premises. But hundreds of people opposed the meeting and demanded another date be fixed and a venue be selected at Kujang.
Hence, Paradip ADM Biswajit Biswal cancelled the proposed public hearing canceled.
Notably, the PPl has plan to expand its coal handling plant, ammonia plant, uria plant, nitric acid plant, ammonia nitrate plant, DAP plant, GSSP plant and aluminum fluoride plant.
