Public hearing for the environmental clearance for production of 100 lakh MT iron ore and 0.014 lakh MT manganese and setting up of a crosser and screening plant of Kalinga Mining Corporation (KMC) located at Jalahari gram panchayat under Joda mining circle was held peacefully recently.
Keonjhar ADM Sangram Keshari Swain and District Pollution Control Officer Soham Gir and many senior officers of the company were present in the meeting at Jalhari village. The company agreed to sort out the health, education, road and drinking water issues of the locality, sources said.
“The public hearing was peaceful and we will forward the detail to the Government for a final decision,” said ADM Sangram Keshari Swain. Security was beefed up at the meeting venue to avoid any untoward incidents. Nearly 5000 people from the five gram panchyats participated in the hearing.
