As the unavailability of clean drinking water is one of the major problems faced by those living in the slums at Paradip, the Paradip Sakshyarata Samiti (PSS), focusing on ensuring safe drinking water to prevent possible outbreak of waterborne diseases in the slums during the rainy season, distributed 115 water filters manufactured by the CIPET among BPl families and tribal people of Sector 21 and Jagannath Colony on Sunday.
Paradip ladies’ Club secretary Kalpana Sahu, members Preeti Aarati Parija, Kabita Nahak, Seemashri Nayak and PPT Senior Engineer Susil Chandra Nahak donated the filters in a function held at PSS office. PSS project coordinator Ashok Mohapatra and advisor Rabi Swain coordinated the event.
PSS has also planned to donate more water filters in the remaining colonies next month.
