Narendra Kumar Swain, Panchyat Samiti Member of Polasara block in Ganjam district, was shot at near Gareijhuli village on Wednesday night in a road rage incident..
The three accused, Guru Murty Nahak (27), Manoj Ghadei (32) and Ranjit (31), who were later arrested, confessed to the crime.
The victim was admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital and his condition was stated to be stable. The trio was forwarded to court on Thursday, said Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena.
The accused and Swain had a heated altercation over reckless driving in the village area.’
Later, the victim came to Swain residence and fired at him with a country made shot gun, following which the latter suffered bullet injuries in his leg.
Police seized the weapon of offence and sent it for forensic test. The Purusottampur SDPO and the Polasara IIC are carrying out further investigation.
