The Commissionerate Police (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) has made a mandatory provision for house owners of the twin city to furnish details of their tenants. Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma said the house owners have to submit detailed information about their tenants in a declaration form to the concerned police station of their respective areas in every two months. They could also send the required information through e-mail, he added.

“If any house owner is found to have furnished wrong information to the police, he/she will have a six-month jail term with a fine of Rs 1000,” Dr Sharma said, adding, “The house owners have to submit the information within 10 days after the rules come into force from April 8 next.” He said the information would help the police to track the modus operandi of the people who are staying on rent in the twin city. The police took the decision after they found involvement of some of the outsiders in several criminal activities, he added. “We have taken the decision as we have found that some of the outsiders staying in the twin city on rent are involved in criminal activities”, Sharma said.
