Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera on Thursday urged the State Government to provide free treatment to all dengue patients.
Behera made the request in a letter to Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.
“The number of dengue patients has touched 419 officially, but, in reality, it will be more. The disease originated from Barbil has already spread its wings in districts like Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Baleswar. The State Government has failed to check spread of the disease,” alleged Behera.
He urged the Minister to convene a meeting of CDMOs of all the affected districts and doctors of DHHs and Government and private medical collages to find out ways to contain the situation. And they should be directed to conduct all tests of dengue patients free of cost.
The urban local bodies (UlBs) and gram panchayats should be directed to undertake cleaning programmes soon so that mosquito breeding would be checked. Help of NSS and Youth Red Cross Volunteers, Health Workers and Anganwadi Workers should be sought for the purpose, suggested Behera.
