Eminent citizens, particularly educationists of the State, have sternly condemned the slipshod manner in which the State Government and the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) dealt with the students who appeared at this year’s HSC (matriculation) examinations.
Faulty evaluation of answer sheets, incoherent marks in objective and subjective sections of some subjects, careless attitude of Board officials and above all, the brutal manner in which the parents, students and protesters were lathicharged on Friday came in for sharp criticism.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, several educationists demanded fresh evaluation of answer sheets and publish the results once again after rectifying the faulty mark sheets of the students. Disapproving the entire examination reforms programme undertaken this year, the educationists are demanding for going back to the earlier format of examination in which the answer sheets were evaluated manually.
Meanwhile, it was learnt from BSE officials on Saturday that fresh mark sheets would be uploaded in the BSE websites within seven days after rectifying the technical glitch that is currently believed to be responsible for the matriculation blunder this year. The officials also maintained that the problems have been identified and they are being sincerely addressed.“We reassure the students with utmost sincerity that flaw-less mark sheets would be provided to them within seven days after rectifying the mistakes in them,” said BSE Controller of Examinations Nihar Ranjan Mohanty on Saturday.
The assurances of the officials are, however, not cutting much ice as the students and their parents have completely lost faith with the BSE for their repeated blunders year after year.Attempting to do wonders, the BSE this year tried to publish the results in a record time. But not knowing the fact that they were doing more harm than good, the BSE officials came out with the results on April 30 which were full of errors. Soon after the results were published, complaints started flooding the BSE office from across the State.
