The BJP State Mahila Morcha on Monday gheraoed the Naveen Niwas, house of the Chief Minister, demanding arrest of former Minister Raghunath Mohanty, who is facing dowry and torture charges against his daughter-in-law.
The BJP women staged the demonstration in front of the Naveen Niwas in violation of Section-144 CrPC. The police arrested some agitators, including their leader Bijaylaxmi Mishra while they were trying to enter into the Chief Minister’s residence.
“Our demand is arrest of Raghunath Mohanty. Our demonstration will continue until he is arrested,” Bijaylaxmi Mishra said.
The front of Naveen Niwas witnessed a clash between the agitators and the police. However, the women were arrested before any untoward incident happened.
