Protest over 100% quota demand in AHO post’

Protesting horticulture students’ demand for 100 per cent reservation in recruitment to Assistant Horticulture Officer (AHO) post, the students of Agriculture Department of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Monday staged a demonstration in the university premises.

Holding placards, the agitating students locked the main gate and sat on a dharna as a mark of protest.

They alleged that farmers in the State will die of starvation if horticulture students become AHO.

The demand of the horticulture students is completely baseless, said an agitator.

“Without working hard, the horticulture students are seeking reservation, which is nothing other than fear”, said an agitating student.

The agitators also threatened that they would continue their stir in coming days if the authorities do not intervene into the matter.

When asked, the varsity authorities said a committee has been formed to sort out the issue.
