The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BJCD) would hold protest meetings at all district headquarters and ADM offices in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela on June 19 against the Centre’s apathetic attitude in conferring Special Category State (SCS) status on Odisha and resolving the Mahanadi water dispute.
“Union Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh’s negative remark on conferment of SCS status and Chhattisgarh Commerce Minister Amar Agrawal’s revelation that Chhattisgarh has made agreements to provide Mahanadi water to industries for 15 years have brought the Centre’s apathetic attitude to the fore. We will strongly protest it,” said BYJD president Amaresh Patri and BCJD president Ranapratap Patra at Press conference here on Friday.
Informing that demonstrations would be held at 10 am on June 19, they too stated that the agitations would be intensified further in coming days.
Among others, BYJD working president Sanjeet Mohanty and general secretary Shishir Parija and BCJD working president Debi Ranjan Tripathi and general secretary Harishankar Rout were present.
