A protest was held at Subarao Square here against a foreign liquor shop on Sunday. Residents held a meeting demanding shifting of the shop.
They were surprised how the liquor shop was opened in the residential area while five educational institutions are just 30 meter away. They questioned the rationale of the excise and police departments in granting permission to open the shop between two residential houses. locals are disturbed due to drunkards’ activities.
Complaints are already registered at the RDC, DIG, SP, Excise Superintendent and Sub-Collector offices but in vein. Pramod Mohapatra, Dutikrushna Malla and Sasant Sabat along with other intellectuals demanded immediate closure of the liquor shop.
