In a bid to bring parity among all Selection Committees established for selection of candidates to higher ranks of different service cadres of the State Government, the State Cabinet on Saturday approved the proposal of a third amendment to the Odisha State Prosecution Service Rules, 1997. As per the decision, sub-rule 9(i) of Rule 9 and Rule 10 of the Odisha State Prosecution Service Rules, 1997 would be amended by reconstituting the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) meant for different promotional posts of the Odisha State Prosecution Service Cadre.
After the Cabinet meeting, Home Secretary CJ Venugopal told mediapersons that now the Chairman of the Committee for the posts of Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) (Pay Band-2), Public Prosecutor (PP) (Pay Band-3) and Deputy Director (Pay Band-3) shall be the Secretary of the Department. The Chairman of the Selection Committee for the post of Joint Director (Pay Band-4) shall be the Chief Secretary.
As per the existing Rules, the Home Secretary is the Chairman of the Selection Committee for the post of APP while the Chairman of such Committees for the posts of PP, Deputy Director and Joint Director is the Chief Secretary.
