A property dispute turned fatal as a man allegedly hacked his elder brother to death at Chintapalli village under Gosani block of Gajapati district on Friday.
The accused identified as Prabhakar Behera attacked his elder brother Sundar with an axe after both had a heated altercation. Then he fled from the spot.
Getting information, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter and questioned the family of the deceased and eye witnesses to the incident.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was in an inebriated condition. He used to regularly bicker with his family members over share of the parental property. This morning, he hacked his brother to death with an axe. We have formed two teams to nab the accused,” said police official.
