The Vigilance police on Friday conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of Mahesh Prasad Patnaik, Executive Engineer, Minor Irrigation Division, Baleswar, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income,
So far, immovable assets worth crores of rupees were unearthed in the names of Patnaik and his family members.
The properties included two flats (converted into a 4- BHK) at Atala, Balianta, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 61.5 lakh, a 3- BHK flat at Panchamukhi Greens at Atala, Balianta, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 34.18 lakh, a flat at Hill View Residency, Chinnagadili, Vishakhapatnam worth Rs 17.56 lakh, a flat at Hi-Tech Plaza, Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 13.23 lakh and a building at native village Kasturi Nagar, Rayagada worth Rs 4.85 lakh.
Besides, six plots including three in prime areas of Bhubaneswar and three plots in Koraput, bank and insurance deposits worth Rs 1.19 crore, cash of Rs 2.53 lakh, gold jewellery worth Rs 20.79 lakh, silver ornaments weighing 6 kg worth Rs 1.5 lakh, four two-wheelers and household articles worth Rs 12.15 lakh were found so far. Further searches were continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuations are likely to increase.
