Promoted OAS officers still in old jobs

The OAS officers who have been promoted to the Deputy Secretary rank about one and a half years are likely to go on a strike demanding posting in the higher rank.

About such 100 officers have got promotions since October 2014 but they are still working in the places where they were at the time pro promotion, though their pay is protected.

“We were informed that we would be posted in the new rank after 2-3 months. But 18 months have passed and we are in same place as BDOs and Tehildars. We are supposed to get be Sub-Collector posts,” said an affected officer.

What is painful is that some of us have been given posting in higher rank ignoring the merit serial. An officer who was on bottom in the list has been a Sub-Collector in Keonjhar district. We, who are at higher places in the list, have been demoralised, he said.

Similarly, another officer said, “We were assured by the Government that promoted Revenue Department clerks would be placed in our place and we would be shifted to higher ranks. While they have been absorbed in vacant posts, we are still languishing in the same posts.”

He even stated that the affected officers will form an association soon as the OASA is going soft on the issue.

“We have learnt that we would be posted in the promoted ranks only after panchayat elections in 2017. We are planning to take the street to press for out demand,” he said.
