The workers’ community should be united to face any challenges for them in the coming days. Unfortunately, the Central Government is planning to withdraw welfare Acts for workers’ welfare and rights by bringing amendments to the laws.
likewise, the State Government is also busy creating vote banks for the ruling party utilising the funds earmarked for the welfare of workers. In such a situation, the workers’ community should come forward and promote independent candidates in the panchayat elections to defeat the ulterior motive of the Government.
All this was stated by speakers at the inaugural session of a three-day convention of the Progressive Workers’ Forum on Friday.
The speakers included Professor Manoranjan Mohanty, labour leader Anil Mohanty and senior journalist Sudarasan Chhotray.
Organised under the chairmanship of Dr Sangita Nayak, the convention is attended by over 2,000 delegates from the districts of western Odisha. The delegates took oath to work united to make the panchayat elections free from corruption.
