Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Thursday directed the State Government to conduct an inquiry into an allegation of bungling of Rs 100 crore meant for famers in the Regional Cooperative Marketing Societies (RCMSs) in Koraput and Ganjam districts.
He gave this direction in response to an allegation made by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati in the State Assembly.Bahinipati alleged that officials in the Jepore RCMS in Koraput district and Digapahandi RMRC have bungled the major chunk of funds meant for farmers’ welfare.
The Government is not paying any heed to the matter despite repeated urges. He urged the Speaker to direct the Government to conduct a probe and punish the culprits.
