A day after it was revealed that arrested suspected al-Qaeda terrorist Abdur Rehman frequented to the State Secretariat, particularly to the School and Mass Education Department, its Minister Debi Prasad Mishra on Thursday directed a probe into the matter.
“I have received an allegation that Rehman had come to my department. I have asked the Secretary for an investigation to know the purpose of his visit to the department and the persons he had met,” said Mishra. He, however, clarified that he has no links with Rehman. It was alleged that Rehman used to visit the Secretariat regularly and last time visited the School and Mass Education Department on October 7 availing a pass bearing number 892836.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma said an investigation was on to garner information about Rehman’s activities in the State. “Our teams are camping in Delhi and Jharkhand to collect information about the purpose of Rehman’s regular visit to Jharkhand,” said Sharma. Meanwhile, the Government has started a drive to collect data on madrasas running in the State and their activities.
