After it was ascertained that the suspected al-Qaeda terrorist Abdul Rehman had links with international terrorist organisations and visited places like london, Scotland and Saudi Arabia, the Commissionerate Police have planned to check and examine the visitors’ record of the madrasa run by Rehman
illegally.
The police have planned to garner information on the visitors to get leads about the activities of the arrested Rehman in the State.
A senior police official said that if needed, the teachers employed by Rehman in the madrasa would be interrogated. Rehman was running the madrasa at an isolated place at Tangi near Cuttack for the past two years and had appointed five teachers.
Police officials said the cleric had visited Saudi Arabia and Dubai twice in recent months. He also visited Jammu and Kashmir several times.
It is now a challenge for the police to ascertain the motive behind Rehman’s visits to Kashmir. The police have also redoubled their efforts to trace the source of funds for running his madrasa.
Meanwhile, two police teams have already reached Delhi and Jharkhand to gather information about the activities of the 37-year old cleric.
