Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (PYCC) president lokanath Maharathy on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister
Narendra Modi for not declaring Special Category State (SCS) status to Odisha during his recent visit here.
He also demanded an inquiry into “the huge expenditures made for the arrangements of the two-day BJP national executive meeting in Bhubaneswar. Addressing a Press conference here, Maharathy said, “Modi very well knows that there are large numbers of poor people in O0disha. Then why is the Centre hesitating to accord Special Category State status to the StateIJ”
He also criticised the Prime Minister for “not fulfilling” the election promises on poverty and unemployment. Modi had promised to provide employment for one crore people a year. But three years already elapsed. How many youths have got jobs, he demanded to know.
He further alleged that the Centre has failed to resolve the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The BJP Government at the Centre and in Chhattisgarh do not want to resolve the crisis for their own political gains, he said.
Maharathy demanded a probe into the sources of the enormous funds spent for the mega arrangements for the BJP national executive meeting. The PYCC would hold a motorcycle rally here on Wednesday to make people aware in this regards, he added.
