'Probe exam irregularities in De-Paul School'

The Ganjam District Committee of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) submitted a memorandum to the Higher Education Minister, Revenue Divisional Commissioner and district Collector here on Friday demanding a thorough probe into the irregularities and corrupt  practices alleged to have resorted to in conduct of the 12th  examination, valuation of answer scripts and publication of 12th Examination (CISCE) results by the authorities of the De-Paul Private English Medium School.

The demands included reevaluation of the answer scripts at the cost of the school authorities; reflection of theory and practical examination marks separately in the marks sheets; publication of results of all students at one go; and appointment of a committee to probe into the irregularities in the conduct and publication of examination result to remove the doubts of the parents.

The school authorities reportedly published the examination results reportedly at 11 in night of May 17 in the CISCE Board website without any prior information. Ironically, the results were published in phases continuously for five to six days creating suspicion in the minds of the students and parents. The marks of the theory and practical tests were alleged to have clubbed and reflected in the mark sheets even though the CISCE has conducted examinations separately for the theory and practical papers.

If the CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination) is a Central Board, how the results of a single examination was published in different phases, the AIDSO memorandum questioned.A total of 101 students of the school appeared at the examination, but the results of all the examinees are not yet published. Parents are every day coming to the school and demanding reevaluation of the answer scripts of their wards to make the result transparent.

Now, the school authorities have served a notice to the parents to pay a sum of Rs3,200 for each student for reevaluation of answer scripts. Why should the parents be penalised for the erratic evaluation of answer scripts, questioned the memorandum.A demonstration in front of the school was led by AIDSO Ganjam unit president Kartik Chandra Mahanty ans secretary Shivani Shankar Mishra and parents’ representative Minati Das.
