Probe begins into B'ngir R&B fake term deposits

Published on:

The Balangir police have started an investigation into a complaint of fake term deposit receipts (FTDR) in SE office of the Road and Building department here to the tune of Rs 1.35 crore.

Rajendra Prasad Agrawal and Bunty Agrawal obtained work orders of around Rs 12 crore by that way. According to sources, the involvement R and B officials and even those from bank cannot be ruled out. As per the procedure, the contractor deposits the money in terms of financial instruments to the concerned department while issuing the work order and the financial instruments deposited are kept in joint custody of two officials. The moot point is how fake TDRs were being deposited and how nobody could know about itIJ

Besides Bolangir R and B SE circle, similar complaint also surfaced from Bargarh, Nuapada and Kalahandi districts. The Bolangir Town police station has registered a case of cheating and forgery, said SDPO Narayan Naik.
