The probe by the State Government against the Directors General of Police (DGPs) at different times is only to grab public attention. On one hand, the Naveen Patnaik Government is trying to shield the guilty police officials by losing the probe reports; on the other hand, it is announcing inquiry committees to get accolades, said Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesperson Satya Prakash Nayak in a Press meet here on Thursday.
Nayak said behind the inquiry drama there is a huge administrative conspiracy. The Government is knowingly only appointing officials as DGP, against allegations are pending, so that they would toe its line. Later, the Government is removing them in the most controversial manner, he said.
In the present scenario, the Smitarani Biswal ‘murder’, irregularities in the KALIA scheme and failure in paddy procurement issues are rocking the State. The Government wants to divert the people’s attention from them. If the Government is serious about the probe against former DGP BK Sharma, then it should immediately make public the Lokpal report against former DGP Sanjeev Marik, said Nayak.
