More than 46 nursing homes and clinics have been running illegally in Bargarh district and out of which 33 are in Bargarh district headquarters town.
Most of these clinics have no registration certificate. For better medical facilities, the patients have been running to the nursing homes and private clinics, instead of Government hospitals but they are fleeced by these centres.
As per guidelines, each nursing home and clinic should be registered and renew their registration once in five years. But in the district, a dozen and a half clinics and nursing homes have no renewal and even seven have no registration certificate.
The Nagarika Committee meanwhile has demanded that the Medical Superintendent should get the matter investigated and take suitable action against the illegal health centers.
It is alleged that the health card issued by the Government carries no meaning for them as the nursing homes are charging Rs 15,000 -Rs 20,000 from a delivery patient irrespective of their financial status. They are however reducing the cost marginally for those having health card.
