A prisoner of the Jajpur Sub-Jail tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, said a jail official.
The prisoner was arrested from Bihar in connection with a murder case and produced before a court in the district on July 9. Later, he was sent to the sub-jail.
His swab sample was collected for test and it tested positive for the virus. The incident had left other inmates of the jail panic-stricken. As many as 11 other under-trial prisoners were lodged in the cell in which the person was kept.
He would be shifted to a Covid while swab samples of the 11 under-trial prisoners and concerned jail staffers would be collected for test, the official said.
