Sunabeda Women’s Higher Secondary School Principal Pabitra Kumar Bedanta (53) was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly sexually harassing a woman computer operator of the institute.
As per a complaint lodged by victim Suchitra Patra with the Sunabeda police, Bedanta had been paying her Rs 5,000 out of her monthly salary of Rs 10,000.
The accused asked her to have physical intimacy with him for payment of the rest amount, she alleged.The principal, who hails from Oukhanda village under Kendrapada district’s Derabish police limits, used to threaten her to remove her from the job for not agreeing to his proposal, she stated, adding that he engaged three hired goons to snatch away her mobile in Semiliguda.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested Bedanta under relevant sections of the IPC on Monday night and forwarded him to court Tuesday.
