The Commissionerate police on Sunday arrested Babu Nayak, the prime accused in the bombing case at Patrapada in the city. Three ‘unidentified’ miscreants had lobbed bombs at multiple locations in the Patrapada slum on December 19 last.
Acting on a tipoff, the Mancheswar police apprehended Babu while his two aides, who were also allegedly involvement in the bombing, managed to give the cops a slip.
A few days ago, Babu and his associates had allegedly hurled bombs at the house of a person in Patrapada on the outskirts of the city over some dispute.
The incident was captured on CCTV; and police later identified the accused trio by scrutinising the CCTV footage. Now, a manhunt has been launched to nab the two absconding persons.
Babu is being interrogated while efforts are on to ascertain the exact motive behind the bombings, police said.
