Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members of seven panchayats under Bandhugaon block in Koraput district on Thursday resigned en masse protesting the State Government’s apathy towards development of their areas.
All the PRI members submitted their resignation letters to Bandhugaon block development officer (BDO) Damburudhar Mallick, alleging district administration’s apathetic attitude to carry out several developmental programmes in their panchayats.
“We requested the State Government to take appropriate steps for the development of our areas in the block repeatedly, but in vain. Finally, we decided to resign en masse from our posts,” said Bandhugaon block chairperson Pidika Amba.
