like previous years, the beach festivals at Chandipur and Talseri will be held with much pomp this year too.
A preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of Tourism Minister Mahaswar Mohanty, recently. Besides the organisers of the festival committees, the District Collector, the tourist officer and culture officer were present. Culture department secretary and director were present.
The Talseri festival while would be held for three days between December 29 and 31, while the Chandipur festival would be organized for four days beginning from January 10 next.
On the inaugural day, no cultural function will be held in commemoration of the deceased of in the recent flood in the district. However, the rest three days will be fun-filled nights with full of cultural shows, the meeting decided. A host of troupes from across the State and outside are scheduled to participate in the festival. Stress would be laid on display of indigenous art and culture. The meeting also took up issues like repair of road, street illumination, drinking water and cleaning of the environment, etc. Sadar MlA Jiban Pradip Dash, Bhograi MlA Ananta Das, District Collector B Parameswaran and festival committee secretary Bismoy Mohanty were among others present.
