Pregnant women to get 102 Ambulance services

The State Government on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Ziqitza Health Care ltd (ZHl) to introduce ‘102 Ambulance service’ in the State. A total of 500 such ambulances would be introduced in four months’ time.

National Health Mission Director Rupa Mishra on behalf of the State Government and ZHl CEO Sweta Mangal inked the MoU in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Damodar Rout and Secretary Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra at the State Secretariat.

The ambulance service will operate under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Programme and provide services to pregnant women and children. A central control room will be opened for the smooth performance of the scheme. It would respond to calls from 102 and 108 emergency ambulance phone numbers and send the required ambulances to the caller.

Minister Rout hoped that the 102 Ambulance Service would be as successful as the 108 Ambulance Service. A total of 364 108 Ambulances with basic facilities and 56 with ultramodern advanced life support are operating in the State, said NHM Director Mishra.
