In another such incident, a pregnant woman was put on a stretcher attached to motor tubes and ferried in neck-deep water across the Nagabali river by a group of villagers in Rayagada district due to lack of a bridge and road connectivity.
According to reports, Ajamini Aaka, a woman of Talasaja village of Sikarpai gram panchayat under Kalyansinghpur block of the district, complained of labour pain following which her family members decided to take her to the Sikarpai Coommunity Health Centre (CHC), which comes after the Nagabali river.
As there was no bridge and road communication, villagers carried Ajamani on a stretcher and crossed the river water with help of motor tubes. She was then admitted to the nearest Community Health Centre (CHC), reports said.
