Pregnant woman carried on sling

Lack of proper road forced relatives of a pregnant woman of Bagribeda village under Dashmantpur block in Koraput district to carry her on a sling for 5 km as the ambulance service failed to reach the village.

According to sources, the woman identified as Laxmi Muduli complained of labour pain, after which her family members called the 108 ambulance service. But the ambulance driver expressed his inability to reach the pickup point due to the poor road connectivity. With no options left, the woman’s family members, with the help of an ASHA Worker, carried Laxmi on a sling to the main road, where the emergency vehicle was stationed.

While travelling in the ambulance, Laxmi gave birth to a baby girl in the vehicle itself. Later, she was admitted to the Koraput District Headquarters Hospital.
