A 108-ambulance carrying an expectant mother met with an accident injuring the woman and two others critically near Gabaguda in Nabarangpur district late on Sunday night.
The incident took place when the ambulance was carrying the woman along with an ASHA Worker from Chacha village under Jharigaon block to hospital. The vehicle dashed against a culvert wall and ran over it, as a result of which the pregnant woman, the ASHA Worker and the ambulance driver were grievously injured.
The injured trio was admitted to the Umarkote Community Health Centre. The pregnant woman and the ASHA Worker were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as their conditions deteriorated.
