For the third consecutive day on Wednesday, beleaguered Banki BJD MlA Pravat Tripathy was unlucky as the Odisha High Court did not grant him anticipatory bail and adjourned the hearing of his plea to Thursday.
The court, however, extended its interim protection him till Thursday, thereby restraining the CBI from arresting him till that period in connection with the chit fund scam.
Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo adjourned the hearing of Tripathy’s anticipatory bail plea after extending the interim protection it had first granted him on September 30.
Both Tripathy’s counsel Pitambar Acharya and CBI counsel V Narasingh argued and counterargued over the case and their arguments remained inconclusive.
Although the CBI had submitted the forensic voice test report in the HC on Tuesday, the contents of it could not be known during the course of hearing on Wednesday.
Similarly, it could not be ascertained as to what other documentary evidence is available with the CBI for objecting to Tripathy’s bail application. The MlA’s counsel continued to claim that the investigating agency has failed to gather any clinching evidence against his client to warrant his arrest.
