Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lok Sabha member Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh, who is at the centre of a raging controversy over her nationality, was inducted to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence on Thursday.
Pratyusha won the byelection from Kandhamal, necessitated by the untimely demise of her husband Hemendra Chandra Singh who represented the constituency earlier, in October this year defeating Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Rudra Madhab Ray.It may be noted that the Odisha High Court has on December 15 issued notices to the Union Home Secretary, Election Commission of India and Collectors of Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Boudh districts on the issue of election of Pratyusha, who has been accused of being a foreign national born in Nepal.
