The State Vigilance Directorate is planning to slap some more cases against former DGP Prakash Mishra. According to reliable sources, Mishra’s role in some transfer and posting cases during his tenure as DGP is being scrutinised.

A release issued by the Vigilance Directorate said Mishra’s act as the CMD of the Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation had led to a loss of Rs 7.27 crore to the State exchequer. Mishra is alleged to have made full and final advance payments of Rs 38.01 crore to steel suppliers like the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam ltd, Scansteel, Purbi Bharat and SAIl. Similarly, another amount of Rs 19.84 cr was made as hundred-per cent advances to other companies although the Odisha PWD Code stipulates to make only Rs 10,000 as advance payments to the suppliers.
