Even as Bhagaban Majhi, a former Rajya Sabha member and father of senior Congress leader Pradip Majhi, pleaded innocent about the suspicious transfer of about `1 crore to his bank account by a sister company of the Seashore chit fund company, it is now revealed that Pradip’s younger brother was an agent for the tainted company.
Sources said Pradip’s younger brother was an agent for the Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company Pvt ltd, a subsidiary of the Seashore Group, for Nabarangpur and some adjoining districts.
Meanwhile, Nabarangpur BJD MP Balabhadra Majhi demanded that the CBI take the entire money transactions episode under its investigation purview.
"The entire family members of Pradip Majhi are involved in the scam," alleged the BJD MP.
Sources said `35 lakh from the SBI account of Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company in the Saheed Nagar branch here (A/c no - 30756217273) was transferred to the SBI account (No 11258582947) of Bhagaban Majhi, a resident of Taliamba, Jharigaon in Nabarangpur district in January 2011.
Besides, the bank statement of Majhi shows transfer of huge sums of money into his account by a person named Satya in 2010.
However, Bhagaban Majhi strongly refuted the allegations, saying the money in question was paid for his maize sold to the Seashore Agricultural Promotion Company.
