The Utkal Sammilani welcomed Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s Kotia gram panchayat visit on Monday and demanded that he raise the Kotia issue in the Parliament and try to find a solution to it.

Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma said that as per the last hearing in the Supreme Court on maintainability on March 30, 2006, the court mentioned that as per Article 131 of the Constitution, a decision on border-related issues can only be taken by the Parliament.

So as per the order of the SC, the fate of the Kotia GP is hanging in the Parliament since 2006, he added.

He also said that as the Union Minister’s party has a majority in the Parliament, he should get the proposal passed on the basis of the evidence available with the Government and the court that Kotia GP belongs to Odisha.
