On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Utkalgaurab Madhusudan Das on April 28, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan would launch a Pipe Fitter-City Gas Distribution (CGD) course at the Skill Development Institute here and Skill-cum-Common Facility Centre for filigree craftsmen at Cuttack, said GAIl (India) limited Director (Projects) Dr Ashutosh Karnatak at a Press meet here on Friday.
Karnatak said Pradhan would also launch an Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Skilling Project which would impart formal certification and training to semi-skilled and unskilled workers engaged in the Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra natural gas pipeline (JHBDPl) project being laid in the State.
The GAIl (India) limited has entered into a quadripartite MoU with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Skill Development Institute, Bhubaneswar and labour Net-Bengaluru for skill development activities and recognition of prior learning (RPl) for generating employment in various aspects of the pipeline project under the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga plan.
The skilling project would offer training to unskilled youths in various trades such as welder, fitter, electrician, earth moving equipment operator and others consisting of RPl and bridge course of 52 hours duration on the specific trades.
The Pipe Fitter-CGD course would provide much-needed skilled manpower for on-going city gas distribution projects in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It would also provide employments and in the three months, the students would be provided free boarding and lodging on the campus apart from uniforms, bags, study material, insurance and shoes along with placement and self-employment assistance at the end of the course.
The Skill-cum-Common Facility Centre for filigree craftsmen is being set up by the NSDC and Gems and Jewellery Skill Council of India in association with EduJobs Academy for filigree artisans and goldsmiths to transform the art form of gems and jewellery making and take it to the global stage.
