Mechanic Bisu Maharana of Bhuban got about Rs 5 lakh from the Hindusthan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for developing a technology of battery bike.
Maharana invented a battery bike which runs 100 km after charged for 4 hours.
After knowing this, BJP Kishan Morcha leader Er Debashisha Hota took Maharana to New Delhi and arranged a meeting with Minister Petroleum, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan at his residence on July 10. The very next day, Pradhan directed HPCL to provide Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to Maharana.
