Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with MPs Basanta Panda and Sangita Singh Deo conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Subarnapur, Balangir, Kalahandi and Boudh districts on Saturday.
Pradhan told reporters that flood-like situations occurred in the four districts as rains continued to occur for three days. People in the districts had not seen such incessant rains during the last 50 years. He said the district administrations have helped the affected people.
Pradhan said the Union Government would provide support from the NDRF and SDRF after availing reports from the State Government. The Union Government would also provide houses to affected people on recommendation of the State Government under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. He advised the district administrations to enrol affected small traders and roadside vendors under the Mudra Yojana so that they can get livelihood support.
