Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu on Sunday laid foundation-stones and dedicated various railway initiatives to the nation at the Rail Sadan here through videoconferencing.
Prabhu dedicated Visatadome Coach and laid foundation stone for a mechanised laundry under the BOOT Model at Visakhapatnam. He also inaugurated the life line Express at Sindhudurg (Maharastra) in presence of Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain and Vishakhapatnam MP K Hari Babu and other dignitaries.
While flagging off the train with new Vistadome coach between Visakhaptnam and Araku, Prabhu said the Vistadome coach having features like glass roof, lED lights, rotable seats, GPS based info system would offer to tourists to enjoy scenic beauty not only at destination but also along the journey. He also said the mechanised laundry would significantly improve the quality of linen leading to enhanced passenger satisfaction. Similarly, the life line Express-Sindhudurg of Konkan Railway would be a great help to the poor patients, he said.
Earlier, East Coast Railway General Manager Umesh Singh welcomed the guests. A function was also arranged at Visakhapatnam, in which a large number of public representatives, including MP Kothapalli Geetha, and MlAs V Ganesh Kumar, PGVR.Naidu, PSrinivas Rao, B Satyanarayana Murthy and K.Sarveswara Rao and Vishakhapatnam DRM Chandralekha Mukharjee were present.
