PPT to observe 'No Vehicle Day' tomorrow

Published on:

As part of various measures for environmental improvement, the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) will observe a “No Vehicle Day” on Wednesday in order to encourage people to give their two-and four-wheelers a miss for a day and opt for walk or bicycles or rickshaws instead

The PPT authorities want people to keep the roads free of vehicles at least for a day. The initiative would help create awareness among the public and also reduce the traffic congestion and enable PPT officers and employees to play an active role in reducing global warming.

Walking is also good for health, and on the day no vehicle will be allowed in the PPT Administrative Building premises. Similarly, no vehicle will be allowed to be parked on the road in front of the Administrative Building. The PPT has requested its officers and employees, port users and the general public to cooperate in the noble endeavour by not using vehicles in the port town on the day.
