An all-time record in a single day coal discharge was achieved by the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) when 43,892 metric tonnes of PCI coal was discharged on July 5 from the ship MV Dl Acacia.
This surpassed the previous best of 41,450 metric tonnes of coal discharged from the ship MV Pedhoulas leader on January 30 this year.
The Odisha-based Bhushan Power and Steel ltd was the importer of the cargo in MV Dl Acacia and the Orissa Stevedores ltd was the stevedores for the ship. Two harbour mobile cranes were engaged for discharging the cargo.
