To ensure safety of employees and provide them a clean means of transportation, the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) on Friday inaugurated its first fleet of four buses to be run in collaboration with the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation in the port’s prohibited area.
The PPT would bear all the expenses.
PPT Chief Mechanical Engineer Saroj Kumar Das flagged off the buses in the presence of PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy and other HODs and senior officers.
The buses will ply in the route from Gate Nos. 2, 4 & 5 on a 24x7 basis.
The PPT Chairman said two-wheelers, including bicycles, would be completely stopped in the prohibited area from October 1. Stevedores and
other port-users were also advised to use four-wheelers for transportation of their employees.
Thus, the Paradip Port has become the first Major Port to implement such a facility for the safety of its employees.
