In order to cater to needs of the denizens from the peripheral areas of the Paradip Port, free cataract operations were conducted on 60 poor persons at the PPT Hospital on Friday.
At a meeting held in the hospital, cheques for purchase of spectacles were distributed to the beneficiaries for post-operation care.
While distributing the cheques, Paradip Port Trust Deputy Chairman N Vaiyapuri congratulated Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr P Panda and Ophthalmologist Dr DP Sethy, who carried out the successful operations along with the medical staffs in association with the Paradip Sakshyrata Samity.
PPT FA&CAO SK Sahu, Chief Engineer K Ramchandra Rao and Deputy Conservator Capt Paul N Joseph were also present on the occasion.
The assistance was disbursed in shape of cheques since the PPT has made a 100 per cent-cashless transaction policy.
